The Ginetta Car Company
Ginetta is a British sports racing car company which was founded over 60 years ago by four brothers from Suffolk who were all motor racing enthusiasts. The Walklett brothers built their first car in the late 1950s, with perhaps one their most successful models, the G15, launched at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1967. In 2005, it was acquired by Lawrence Tomlinson, himself a Le Mans winner. Today, Ginetta offers drivers a route to develop their careers from entry level competition through to British GT and beyond. An iconic name, Ginetta has built a reputation for developing excellent cars, through its strong motorsport knowledge and state-of-the-art facilities in addition to the finest on-track action.
Michelin Ginetta Championships
The Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship is widely regarded as the first rung on the ladder for motorsport. Many Ginetta Junior graduates have found international racing success competing in GT, Touring Cars and Prototype championships across the world. This includes such famous names as Lando Norris, who raced for McLaren Formula 1
The Championship is held across 9 race meetings, with 21 rounds of racing in all. There are typically 3 races per meeting, each of 15 minutes in length. Points are awarded based on finishing position in each race. The racing takes place at some of the most iconic circuits in the UK, including Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
The Ginetta G40 Car
Based on Ginetta’s versatile G40 platform, the G40 Junior car offers a perfect introduction to sports car racing for karting graduates and motorsport newcomers alike. The car is powered by a Ford Zetec 1.8 litre engine, outputting 100bhp and enjoys a top speed of 120mph. It has a Quaife 6-speed sequential gearbox and has a T45 tubular chassis and integral safety cage built to FIA standards.
The Season Ahead
I’m filled with excitement for the season ahead. I have no doubt it will be tough and a steep learning curve but I have really enjoyed the testing so far. My team Fox Motorsport is fantastic, and it’s great to be racing with a teammate, Harry Moss. Keep following my progress here and through social media and let’s win some races!
