The car

From 2025 onwards, GB4 drivers will compete in the Tatuus MSV GB4-025, a modern single-seater featuring:

  • A Mountune 2.0L engine producing high-performance power, naturally aspirated.
  • Enhanced aerodynamics for improved handling.
  • The halo safety device, ensuring compliance with the latest safety standards.
  • Basically last years GB3 car, detuned and less aerodynamics

Previously, the series used the Tatuus F4-T014 chassis with a 1.4-litre turbocharged Abarth engine, but the 2025 updates bring GB4 in line with higher-tier racing standards.

The Rules

Each GB4 weekend consists of:

  • One 15-minute qualifying session to determine starting positions.
  • Three 18-minute races held over the weekend.
  • Reverse grid race – the final race features a reverse grid format, making the racing even more unpredictable and exciting.

Points are awarded based on finishing positions in each race, contributing to the overall championship standings.

This season, the top placed female driver gets a prize fund to help towards entering the F1 Academy.

Beyond GB4

Since its inception, GB4 has been a stepping stone for numerous talented drivers. Past champions include:

  • Nikolas Taylor (2022) – Fortec Motorsports
  • Tom Mills (2023) – KMR Sport
  • Linus Granfors (2024) – Fortec Motorsports (first international winner)

Several GB4 graduates have progressed to GB3, FIA Formula 3, and beyond, showcasing the championship’s role in developing future motorsport stars.

GB4 serves as a direct stepping stone to GB3, the UK’s leading Formula 3 equivalent. From there, drivers can progress to FIA Formula 3, Formula 2, and ultimately, Formula 1.

The championship provides a cost-effective, competitive, and high-profile platform for young drivers aiming to build their careers in motorsport.
